We opened in 2019 in a downtown building that had spent most of the previous century as a print shop. The presses were still in it. So was the smell of ink, which took about four months to leave.

We kept the brick, the cast-iron columns and the low light, put a walnut bar down the long wall, and left the sign off the door. The big platen press still stands by the back wall. The type case behind the banquettes is still full.
